Back in the studio after a weekend of wax and friends in Portland. I attended the International Encaustic Artist’s yearly retreat, met lots of new people, and gave a presentation with my friend Larraine Seiden. Some highlights:
Buying some new tools and some paint from the vendors…
Soaking in the warm salt water pool…
Seeing Portland for the first time(!)…
Watching artist demos all day Saturday…
Listening to Bon Iver playing live on Saturday night from the porch of the hotel…
Since I got home I’ve been cleaning out the studio, making medium, and new work. So good to be home and all juiced up.
Wax, artist demos, friends…sounds wonderful!
I look forward to seeing what you do in the studio, post-retreat.
I’ve just found your blog and am very impressed…. your descriptions of encaustic techniques are so gently inspiring. Thank you.
Lisa, I hope you’re doing well. I’d love to see what you’ve been up to lately. Also, have you considered making the packing/shipping encaustics class into a PDF course? I’d be willing to purchase that – I would like to learn more about that (obviously I wasn’t at the retreat).
I love your work – post more soon! 🙂
Happy holidays!
I have just started using encaustics — and I’d like to do some work on a dining room tabletop. Do you think that this medium could “hold up” on a dining room table?
